FOUR MILE RUN CONNECTION POINTS

MAKE THE CONNECTION

CONNECT TO
OTHERS
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.Matthew 28:19-20, ESV
We can connect to others by sharing our story of how Jesus has changed our lives with other people. This is best expressed through action and conversation with our friends, family, neighbors and coworkers. As Christ followers, we have the responsibility to influence people in our surrounding communities and the world to help them make an eternal connection with Jesus.

As Christ followers we have a responsibility to influence people in our surrounding community for Christ and invite them into our Biblical community of believers, as well as making sure the message of Christ is influencing others around the world.

BE PREPARED

People need to know the story of Jesus and they will ask you about who Jesus is and what He did. Your job as a Christ Follower is to be prepared to answer that question. You don’t need to have all of the answers to life and you don’t need to know everything about Jesus. All you need to do is be prepared to tell them that Jesus is the Son of God and that He took their place on the cross to pay the price for their sins. Your job is to arrange an introduction between them and the Son of God, Jesus Christ.

SHARE YOUR STORY

Sharing your story is one of the most powerful tools in your arsenal. Whether you realize it or not, by trusting Jesus with your eternity, you have a powerful testimony of how Jesus has changed your life. Sharing that story with another person can make them feel like they’re not alone and that they don’t have to be perfect before meeting Jesus, coming to church and learning more about Him.

MAKE DISCIPLES

Inviting others to come with you to church is the next greatest thing you can do for them. By offering to have them come with you, they immediately feel more comfortable because they’re with someone who knows what they’re doing and where they’re going. You can also invite them to the place your connecting to Community (Your group/class). Again, you don’t need to feel like you have all of the answers to the questions they’re asking, but you’re making yourself available to them and that is an incredible act of love and teaching itself.

HOW TO MAKE THIS CONNECTION

BE PREPARED

Read your Bible and pray for God to give you opportunities. It sounds so simple, but reading your Bible and praying for opportunities to share Jesus with others is really all it takes. God will present those moments to you. You just need to be prepared to take them and run with them when He does.

SHARE YOUR STORY

Grab a notepad and write down how Jesus has made a difference in your life. Then spend some time practicing and refining your story down into 2-4 minutes. Practice that on other Christ Followers so that you can share it with people when you’re given the opportunity.

MAKE DISCIPLES

The best way to do this is making yourself available for others. Practically speaking: pray for people that God wants you to reach and then follow the Holy Spirit’s leading to invite a person or family to come to church with you. Spend some time arriving and showing them the building, including helping them check in their children and getting them some refreshments from the cafe. Sit with them during the service and eat a meal with them afterwards to discuss their experience. Then go home and pray for God to grow them.
