FOLLOW UP ON LAST WEEKS CHALLENGE QUESTION:

The goal of the question is to have made progress, not necessarily to fully complete. There may be times where you are working on one of these challenges for more than one week.  We don’t change overnight.

What habit are you going to work on this week?

COMMUNITY

Describe a time in your life when you experienced some aspects of community.

This could be:

  • a family event
  • a sports team
  • an organization that you belonged to accomplishing something
  • a group of friends that were close
  • an event that was organized where you had to support and depend on other people

READ Acts 2:42-47

What are some characteristics of community that the early church developed?

What are some challenges for community to take place?

  • confidentiality
  • consistently meeting
  • serving together
  • celebrating together
  • spending time together outside of the regular gathering

What are the advantages of being in community with other Christ followers?

How can eating together like the early church transform people?

The early church also experienced a repetition of contact.  Why is this vital for a Christ follower?

Failure is just as much a part of life as success.  How can a community group help someone through failure?

A community group like a church is team-based.  One person or even a few are not expected to do everything.

Some responsibilities of the community group are:

  • Learning about Christ through discussing scripture
  • Shepherding each other
  • Celebrating together
  • Being intentional about sharing Christ with those who have no connection to Christ
  • Organizing a serving opportunity
  • Organizing an activity
  • Making sure everyone knows when and where the next meeting is

These responsibilities cannot be left up to one person.

How can these responsibilities be shared in the group?

  • Rotate responsibilities with the group
  • With the discussion questions you can have various people read the questions during the meeting and not just the leader.

CHALLENGE QUESTION:
